Product Description
The HMS Belfast was a light cruiser of the Royal Navy during World War II. She was commissioned on August 5th, 1939. At the end of November of the same year the Belfast was released from service for three years as a result of damage by a German mine. After 1942, she accompanied Arctic convoys. On December 26th, 1943, she and the cruisers HMS Norfolk and HMS Sheffield repelled the attacks of the German battleship Scharnhorst, who attempted to make her way into an Allied convoy. HMS Belfast also took part in the attack on the German battleship Tirpitz. In June 1944 she underwent a general renovation. In August 1945, she sailed into the port of Sydney and from then until 1962 she served in the Far East with only short interruptions to get repairs and also took part in the Korean War. In 1966 the Belfast was earmarked for an accommodation ship. In 1971, she was threatened with scrapping. Thanks to the active involvement of the British public this did not happened. She was ultimately anchored on the Thames River and became a museum ship. In collaboration with IWM Imperial War Museums) the COBI construction block model was designed on a scale of 1:300 and faithfully captures the details of its historical inspiration. The miniature battleship is 64 cm / 25.2 long and 19.5 cm / 7.7 tall. It has many moving components such as on-board guns, rotating artillery towers, rudders and propellers. The model is covered with high-quality prints replicating the equipment and camouflage. Prints don't scratch or smear even during intense play. The set includes a black display stand and a white plate with the model name and scale printed on it. The IWM logo Imperial War Museums) is also printed on the plaque. The Belfast will perfectly fulfill the function of a unique gift for all lovers of history, naval design and nautical science. It will look great on a desk, bookcase or on a shelf with other ships and military vehicles.
